Renewtech purchases used critical IT infrastructure from suppliers. The data is then securely erased, and the hardware is sorted, tested, refurbished, cleaned and stored, before being sold to B2B customers worldwide through direct webstore, brokers or KAM. Renewtech’s refurbished products provide a 90% lower CO2 footprint than primary material.
Renewtech is the result of Kimbrer Computer acquiring Renewtech in 2023 and rebranding the group to Renewtech in 2024.
“We are excited to join forces with Trill Impact. They are a great match with Renewtech as our values and ambitions on both sustainability and growth align. Trill Impact wishes to build on our existing strong foundation enabling us to provide even more refurbished hardware to customers globally. Trill Impact has the experience and expertise to support both our growth and sustainability journeys towards growing the business, serving more customers, and scaling our positive impact on environment, people, and society.”
- Bjarne Aarup, CEO of Kimbrer Computer
Return with impact investment rationale
Trill Impact sees significant potential in supporting the growth journey of Renewtech by further strengthening the core of the business by growing organically as well as via M&A thus becoming a leading European Circular IT platform. Key impact and investment attractions, in Trill Impact’s view, include:
Large attractive end market with sustainable and resilient growth driven by various underlying megatrends
Solid platform for buy & build to act as a consolidator in a highly fragmented market thus becoming a leading European Circular IT platform focusing on critical IT infrastructure
Tangible value-creation levers beyond buy & build including organic growth in existing markets and product segments, further optimization of procurement and sales, further professionalization of the business as well as adding new impactful capabilities
Highly efficient logistical and operational capabilities combined with strong E-commerce presence
Very clear positive impact contribution as refurbishment of enterprise IT hardware contributes to circular economy and reduces e-waste and the CO2 footprint
Renewtech‘s solution
Renewtech successfully contributes to the circular economy by extending the life of enterprise IT hardware, thus reducing CO2 footprint by up to 90%, reducing raw materials, e-waste, energy and water usage in comparison to the production of new hardware.
Social/Environmental challenge
Electrical and Electronic equipment is one of the fastest growing waste streams and less than 40% of all e-waste is recycled in Europe
24 of 27 countries fail their respective recycling targets and Information and Computer Technology (ICT) equipment is the third largest contributor accounting for 14% of total e-waste
These products rarely reach their actual lifetime and it is estimated that they are discarded at least 2-3 years earlier than designed
SDG Contribution
Enables impact acceleration across the following SDG targets:
SDG 12.4: Environmentally sound management of chemicals and all wastes throughout their life cycle
SDG 12.5: Substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling, and reuse
